A transmission flush is a very important part of every vehicle’s maintenance schedule. If done properly, this maintenance could improve the lifespan and performance of your engine. However, a transmission flush should not be performed if you’re experiencing transmission issues such as strange noises or difficulty switching gears. In these cases, it might do more harm than good.
It’s recommended that you have your transmission flushed every 30,000 miles or two years. A flush, as opposed to a change, will remove all fluid from your transmission, including any sludge or grime that may cause issues, and replace it with clean oil.
What is a Transmission Flush?
A transmission flush is performed by a machine which removes all of the oil in your transmission. New oil (and sometimes a cleaning solution) is run through to push out any residue from the torque converter cooler lines to prevent it from affecting your engine. Once the transmission is clean, it is filled back up with new oil. At Tommy’s, we have most manufacturer fluids in stock.
Transmissions are expensive. Be sure to protect yours with some inexpensive, preventative maintenance! Should you need it, we do also offer transmission repair services.
